Shane Lowry after winning Wentworth: "I won for myself, but also for..."

Shane Lowry could not hide his delight after a great game at the BMW PGA Championship where he won. This will be an additional motive for him. Lowry is happy about the win, but also about one more thing. "I made no secret how I feel about the whole thing," Lowry said for skysports.

"I wanted to win for myself first and foremost, but for everyone that has stayed loyal to this [DP World] Tour I really feel this is one for the good guys." He was already close to winning the trophy earlier. That's exactly why this victory means even more.

"It [winning] means a lot. It's been a good year, but felt like I've been close a few times and only a few tournaments left this season and I really wanted to win one and this was top of the list."

Shane Lowry; I'm so happy

It was as if a burden had been lifted from his back after this success.

He trained hard for this, and the dream came true. "I'm so happy. I can't put into words how happy I am, how much I love this tour, this tournament. I'm the happiest man in the world right now. One of my main goals is to go to Rome next year and help win back the Ryder Cup so I'm delighted that qualifying started this week and I have made some good points." Rory Mcilroy expressed his gratitude to his opponent against whom he played in the final.

McIlroy is happy that Lowry is the winner, and as if he was his favorite. "I think Shane (Lowry) winning softens the blow," McIlroy admitted. "If it had been someone else, I might not have felt as comfortable with it as I am. Seeing a friend win is always great and I am really happy for him.
