Denise Welch speaks out about clinical depression that lasted 33 years!

Mental health has become an important topic. In today's stressful world, many choose to talk about it in public, helping others to realize that they are not alone. Loose Women star Denise Welch is one of those who also decided to speak out in public.

She talked about the clinical depression she suffered for 33 years "I've lived with it for so long," Denise explained, and it all started after the birth of her son. "It began with a massive panic attack which made my whole lactation process stop overnight," Denise said for Channel 5, as quoted by hello magazine.

"It felt like a dream sequence," Denise was shocked in those moments and her emotions seemed to stop working. "Depression depresses every single emotion in you"- she said. "It's not sadness, it's an absence of feeling. It completely robs you of emotion." Denise highlighted what many today emphasize: You are not alone in this, there are many people suffering from depression and other mental illnesses.

The most important thing is to seek professional help and this is the first step toward recovery. "There is help out there, it's never too late to turn your life around, you'll be surprised how many people know exactly what you're talking about.

I feel better now as an old bird than I did in the last 40 years,"

Of course, after the show, many decided to support Denise via Twitter. Many who have experienced similar things know what Denise is talking about.

"The feeling couldn’t have been described better. Thank you for helping others understand the true nature of a depressive episode," - someone posted on Twitter. "That's exactly it, you just feel dead inside. Just waiting for my cloud to lift a bit so I can breathe again. It can be such a struggle to get through the day."
