Deborah James has been battling bowel cancer for several years, and her illness is currently in its final stages. James is an optimist, although of course there are hard days, she does not give up the fight. James set up a fundraiser to raise money for cancer research, but she also launched a clothing line with the same goal: to help someone.
Sophie, Countess of Wesse*, was seen wearing a T-shirt with the words "Rebellious hope", which is the slogan of Deborah James. James was delighted with the picture, and sent a message via Instagram: "How great does the Countess of Wesse* look in the @inthestyle Rebellious Hope t-shirt for the @bowelbabefund - thank you for the support Sophie!
@theroyalfamily," she wrote, as quoted by OK!
Despite his illness, James wants to help others, and her family said: "Through donations, fundraising and partnerships we are all continuing to raise an incredible amount of money that will help give more Deborah's more time.
All money raised will be allocated, with the support of CRUK to funding causes and projects such as: funding clinical trials and research into personalised medicine that could result in new treatments for cancer patients."
Prince William visit
Prince William is also one of those who visited James, at her home with her parents and awarded her the prize.
"I am utterly honoured that he joined us for afternoon tea and champagne, where he not only spent a generous amount of time talking to my whole family but also honoured me with my Damehood. It’s quite surreal having a royal pop in at home, and yes you can imagine the cleaning antics and preparation went off the scale - but it was all irrelevant because William was so kind and he put us all at ease.
Hee is clearly passionate about improving oncology outcomes as the President of the Royal Marsden. It was such a special day for my whole family, making memories to last a life time. He’s welcome back any time!"
