The actor arrived at the dinner accompanied by his wife, 33 years his junior, Brazilian journalist Alejandra Silva (39). Richard appeared at the ceremony in a formal black jacket, and Alejandra wore a long yellow dress with a white floral detail.

The Brazilian completed the combination with a small and glittering yellow-pink purse and large gold earrings. Richard and Alejandra are the parents of two sons, and they also have children from previous marriages. Gere has a son Homer (22) from his marriage to Carey Lowell, while Alejandra has a son Albert (9) from his marriage to businessman Govinda Friedland.

This is the actor's third marriage, and before Silva and Lowell he was married to supermodel Cindy Crawford for five years.

The couple also have children from previous relationships: Gere and his second ex-wife Carey Cowell have a 22-year-old son Homer, Silva, who's the daughter of Ignacio Silva, a businessman and the former Vice President of Real Madrid Football Club, and her first husband Govind Friedland, co-parent their nine-year-old son Albert.

Richard has also recently appeared to pull back from his Hollywood workload, however, his last on-screen appearance came in the BBC Studios series MotherFatherSon, which premiered in March 2019. His latest film role came in the drama The Dinner, which dropped in February 2017, and the drama Three Christs later that same year in September.

His Hollywood resume also includes The Cotton Club (1984), First Knight (1995), The Jackal (1997), Runaway Bride (1999), The Mothman Prophecies (2002), Unfaithful (2002), and Nights in Rodanthe (2008), among others.
