22-Year-Old Footballer Aubagne Santana Mendy Gunned Down on Marseille Streets

Tragedy has struck the world of French football with the news of the untimely death of Aubagne Santana Mendy, a 22-year-old footballer from the country's fourth division. According to reports, Mendy was shot and killed on the streets of Marseille, with 27 7.62 millimeter cartridges found at the scene.

The police are currently investigating the case. Mendy had been making a name for himself in the world of football, having come up through the youth academy at Olympique de Marseille and eventually making his way to the team's B squad in the French first division.

Despite this promising start to his career, Mendy struggled to find a permanent place in the professional ranks and ended up bouncing around lower league clubs in England, Malta, and France before finally settling at Aubagne, his final team.

This season, Mendy had played in 10 league matches and one match in the Coupe de France, scoring a goal in the process. His last match was on December 3rd, and Aubagne's next match was scheduled for January 8th against Chambéry in the 32nd round of the Coupe de France.

Unfortunately, Mendy will not be able to participate in that match or any others, as his life was tragically cut short in this senseless act of violence.

AFC statement:

“The AFC has learned with great sadness of the tragic disappearance of Adel Santana Mendy, writes the club.

He will leave a great void and will forever remain one of us. All our thoughts and condolences go out to his family”. AS Saint-Preist said: "AS Saint-Priest sends to the family of Adel Santana Mendy, and to Aubagne FC, its most sincere condolences after this tragic passing...

We will keep this smile after your goal against us a few weeks ago. Rest in peace." "So young, rest in peace, my condolences to the family," another added. And a third tweeted: "May he rest in peace and condolences to the family." While a fourth said: "He was strong.

He was powerful. He was brilliant. All our condolences and thoughts go out to his family and loved ones." Mendy was a talented and promising young footballer, and his death is a devastating loss not only to his family and loved ones, but to the entire football community.

Our thoughts are with everyone affected by this tragedy, and we hope that the police are able to get to the bottom of this case and bring justice for Mendy and his loved ones.
