The most prominent representatives of the teaching profession in the USA have the privilege of being guests of the White House at the state dinner this year. This honor, which is usually reserved only for the highest representatives of foreign countries, will be given to teachers for the first time, Jill Biden, wife of the American president, who is a teacher by profession, announced on Wednesday.

This surprising news was announced on television, but even though it was unexpected, it caused a very positive reaction from the public. Missy Testerman from Tennessee is this year's winner of the National Teacher of the Year award, and the president's wife announced a joint dinner at the White House.

"I'm a teacher, as you all know very well, and I've been teaching for over 30 years, just like Missy, and I always say that teachers are our heroes, so I wanted to honor Missy here because I love to honor teachers." I have a special announcement, Missy: When you come to the White House, we will host a state dinner for teachers", said the first lady of the USA, emphasizing that this is the first time that this kind of honor has been shown to teachers.

Biden, who teaches English at a high school in Northern Virginia, pointed out that the state dinner for the most prominent representatives of education will be one of her favorite gatherings in the White House.

Each year, the US Council of State School Administrators selects the best teacher from each US state, as well as the National Teacher of the Year, which this year was Missy Testerman. Although Jill Biden did not specify the date of the state dinner she announced, a White House official hinted that it could be May 1, when the awarded teachers traditionally come to Washington.

This gesture from the White House underscores the importance of education and recognizes the critical role teachers play in shaping the nation's future. Teachers are the pillars of society, who transmit knowledge and skills, but most importantly shape the character and future of young generations. It is therefore vital to give them the support and respect they deserve.
