Annie Awards: Total triumph for NETFLIX products

Award Season is now history, with the total domination, or almost, of Netflix. MCU gets only one award. Annie Awards, now in their 49th edition, were created specifically to highlight and ennoble the field of animation. Out of 13 dedicated categories, NETFLIX took home 12 statuettes, of which 75% only for Arcane.

The series taken from League of Legends has taken home, among others: Best Director, Best Storyboarding, Best Screenplay and the equivalents of Best Series and Best Voice Interpretation of a Character, Best Animated Effects, Best Character Animation and Best Scenography.

The other three awards, Netflix has obtained them for the Best Television Productions for children and for the preschool range: respectively Maya and the Three and Ada Twist, Scientist and for the Best Music always with Maya and the Three.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe only won Best Editing with What if ...? for the episode What if ... Ultron won?

Best Editing: What If ...? (ep. What if… Ultron won?) The Arcane series has received wide acclaim from critics, who praised its blend of hand-drawn animation and CGI, as well as the story, world-building, characters and voice acting.

It also set the record for the most viewed series on Netflix within a week of its debut by ranking # 1 in the platform's Top-10 in 52 countries, as well as reaching # 2 in the United States. On November 20, 2021, following the conclusion of the first season, Riot Games and Netflix announced a second season whose release is scheduled for after 2022.
