Jurassic World Dominion: synopsis, cast and curiosities

The film's official synopsis says: "The film takes place four years after the destruction of Isla Nublar.

Dinosaurs now live and hunt alongside humans around the world. This fragile balance will reshape the future and determine, once and for all, whether humans will remain the dominant predators on a planet that they now share with the most fearsome creatures in history.

" Stars of the cast including Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, Laura Dern, Sam Neill, Jeff Goldblum, Daniella Pineda, Isabella Sermon, Justice Smith, Omar Sy, and BD Wong, Mamoudou Athie, Scott Haze, Dichen Lachman, Campbell Scott, and DeWanda Wise.

The film was being planned as early as 2014, a part of the future Jurassic World trilogy. Filming began in Canada in February 2020 and moved to other locations in England the following month. In March 2020, production was suspended due to the COVID-19 global pandemic.

Production resumed in July 2020, and concluded four months later in November, with filming locations that included England's Pinewood Studios and the country of Malta. The film uses more animatronic dinosaurs than the previous Jurassic World films.

As with all the previous films, Industrial Light & Magic also worked on CGI versions of the animals. Paleontologist Steve Brusatte is a science consultant on the film. It is the first installment in the series to feature feathered dinosaurs, excluding a five-minute Dominion prologue released prior to the film.

The film's dinosaur antagonist is a Giganotosaurus, which Trevorrow saved for the trilogy's final installment to set up a rivalry with the Tyrannosauris rex. He said: "I wanted something that felt like the Joker. It just wants to watch the world burn."
