On Friday, Disney has issued a statement saying that Marvel Studios’ “The Marvels” as well as “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania” have swapped release dates. In the matter of the fact, “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania,” a third movie of “Ant-Man” series, had been set to release on July 28, 2023, while “The Marvels,” a sequel to 2019’s “Captain Marvel” were scheduled to open on February 17, 2023.
Nonetheless, according to Disney’s Friday’s announcement, the “Ant-Man” sequel will be released before the “Captain American” sequel on February, while “The Marvels” will make its debut in big screens on July next year.
“Ant-Man” and “The Marvels” swap release dates
Apart from that, according to sources familiar with the issue as reported by a press agency late on Saturday, there might be a production delay in “The Marvels,” while the Ant-Man sequel had already winded up its principal photography.
Nevertheless, contemplating Marvel Studios’ other big-budget releases in 2023 such as the “Guardian of the Galaxy: Vol 3” which is set to release on May 5, 2023, a delay in production of “The Marvels” could be justified, while if truth is to be spoken, Captain America’s cinematic universe never had generated mass-scale grossing outside the domestic box office.
In tandem, “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania” would more likely to continue the storyline of a 2021 Disney+ series “Loki” featuring Jonathan Majors, as Majors has reportedly been casted as the key negative character in “Quantumania” as Kang the Conqueror, a different variant of “Loki”.
The “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania” will witness a return of a number of high-profile actors including Paul Rudd, Evangeline Lilly, Michelle Pfeiffer alongside Michelle Douglas and the director Peyton Reed.
