At San Diego Comic-Con 2022, Prime Video finally showed the first real trailer for The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, with over 3 minutes of content that literally drove fans crazy. The panel saw cast members, showrunners J.D.
Payne and Patrick McKay and executive producer Lindsey Weber. Various scenes from the series, lots of images, and a live performance by choir and orchestra were shared in preview, directed by the master and main composer of the soundtrack of The Rings of Power, Bear McCreary.
The Prime Video series will focus on creating the Rings of Power. The new trailer shows the beginning of a time when Elves and other races seemingly live in peace, but in reality a threat looms over Middle-earth. The trailer also shows many specific details, such as the first contact between Galadriel and a Palantir, the appearance of an old and dark presence like the Balrog, and a very different version of Sauron from the one known in The Lord of the Rings.
What the Rings of Power will told
The synopsis of the series tells: "The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power by Prime Video will bring the heroic legends of the mythical Second Age of Middle-earth history to the screens for the first time.
This epic drama takes place thousands of years before the events narrated in The Hobbite The Lord of Annelids J.R.R. Tolkien, and will take viewers into a distant era where great powers were forged, kingdoms ascended to glory and fell into ruin, unlikely heroes were tested, hope hung on the thinner than threads, and one of the greatest villains to come out of Tolkien's pen threatened to plunge the whole world into darkness.
Starting from a moment of relative peace, the series follows a group of characters, some already known, some new, as they prepare to face the feared return of evil to Middle-earth. From the darkest depths of the Misty Mountains, to the majestic forests of the elven capital of Lindon, to the breathtaking island hiatus of the kingdom of Númenor, to the most extreme places on the map, these kingdoms and characters will build a legacy that will survive well beyond their time."
