Netflix, the streaming media industry pioneer, has recently released an official trailer of Andrew Dominik’s “Blonde,” a biopic that will reimagine the life of Marylin Monroe, while the movie has casted Ana de Armas as the epic Hollywood female icon.
First major break of Ana de Armas, a 34-year-old Cuban and Spanish actress, came while starring a leading role in a romantic drama “Una Rosa de Francia”. Nonetheless, at the age of eighteen, the Cuban moved into Spain and had been casted in a popular teen drama “El Internado” for six seasons between 2007 and 2010.
Ana de Armas to play as Marylin Monroe in Netflix’s Blonde
Alongside, Netflix’s Blonde, which is based on a bestselling novel of Joyce Carol Oates, would premiere in a competition at Venice Film Festival. The Ana de Armas starring “Blonde” would likely to be a conventional biopic, which will feature the Hollywood star’s volatile childhood alongside her transcendence into stardom as well as her romantic tangles.
According to Netflix, the movie’s supporting casts will include Bobby Cannavale, Julianne Nicholeson, Xavier Samuel, Adrien Brody alongside Evan Williams among others. Before release of the trailer, Ana de Armas said to Netflix Queue about “Blonde, “We worked on this film for hours, every single day for almost a year.
I read Joyce’s novel, studied hundreds of photographs, videos, audio recordings, films — anything I could get my hands on. Every scene is inspired by an existing photograph. We’d pore over every detail in the photo and debate what was happening in it.
The first question was always, ‘What was Norma Jeane feeling here?’ We wanted to tell the human side of her story. Fame is what made Marilyn the most visible person in the world, but it also made Norma the most invisible”.
