Scottish pop singer Darius Campbell passed away at 41

Darius Campbell, who had notched the third place in the first season of Pop Idol, was found dead at his apartment. Darius Campbell was 41 years old. Both Rochester police department and Southern Minnesota medical examiners had confirmed the death of Campbell, the Glasgow-borne Scottish singer, songwriter, musician, actor and film producer.

According to Rochester Police Department, local officials had received a call about a deceased person in a Minnesota apartment on August 11, while later the medical examiners had identified the body as Darius’.

Nonetheless, the police department stated that they need to conduct further investigation into the cause of Darius’ death. However, adding that there had been no suspicious incidents about Darius’ death, the family of the promising pop star said in a statement to a press agency, “It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Darius Campbell.

Darius was found unresponsive in bed in his apartment room in Rochester, Minnesota, on August 11 and was pronounced dead in the afternoon by the local medical examiners' office. The local police department have confirmed that there were no signs of intent or suspicious circumstances…the cause of Darius' sudden death is unknown at this stage while medical examinations continue … and (we) ask the public to kindly respect our wishes for privacy at this time whilst we come to terms with the tragic loss of our son and brother”.

Darius’ PR did not comment over the issue while being asked over the subject-matter. Borne back in the 1980s, Darius had had a tremendous career in pop industry after appearing on the UK talent hunt series Popstars in 2001.
