“Top Gun: Maverick,” the Paramount’s Tom Cruise-starring billion-dollar epic that has harpooned a whooping $716 million in domestic box office so far and became the fifth-highest grossing film of all time in the history of domestic box office, has been set to return into the silver screens for the holidays. According to a statement from Paramount, the film which has shelved a whacking $1.48 billion internationally so far, will be available in premium large format and Imax from December 2 to December 15 in big screens across the North America. Apart from that, “Top Gun: Maverick,” a sequel of a 1986 “Maverick” which also had starred Tom Cruise, will be available to watch from home on Paramount+ from December 22. On top of that, “Top Gun: Maverick,” which has been the first ever film of Tom Cruise that had grossed over a $100 million landmark in the opening weekend, has been the highest grossing film of 2022 and a landslide success for Paramount Studio.
“Top Gun: Maverick” to return into theatre for limited re-release
Aside from that, as “Top Gun: Maverick” has recently surpassed Disney’s “Frozen II” which had had a grossing of $1.45 billion internationally, becoming the eleventh-highest grossing film of all time, Paramount President Chris Aronson had expressed an out and out optimism over the re-release on Tuesday.
Speaking in an interview with the reporters, Aronson said, “’Top Gun: Maverick’ truly epitomizes the magic of the moviegoing experience, and we wanted to provide fans the opportunity to once again enjoy this cinematic spectacle as it was meant to be seen.
This feels like the perfect time to bring ‘Top Gun: Maverick’ back to theaters so audiences everywhere can once again experience how special this film is”.
