Henry Cavill was born in Saint Helier on the island of Jersey. The fourth of five siblings, he is the son of a bank employee and a stockbroker. After elementary school, he attended Stowe School, where he began to cultivate the theater acting business.

He has often stated that he considered military enlistment or university studies in ancient history, especially Egyptology, as an alternative to acting. He is affected by somatic mosaicism, a form of heterochromia for which multiple colors appear in the same iris, Cavill's left iris, blue, has a small brown spot.

Meanwhile, in January 2011, Cavill was selected by Warner Bros. as the new interpreter of Clark Kent / Superman, a role in which he made his debut two years later, as the protagonist of Man of Steel. The first non-US actor to play the role of the said superhero, prior to filming Cavill followed a tough physical preparation under the supervision of a personal trainer; the film was a box office success, grossing over $668 million worldwide.

Cavill was officially engaged to athlete Ellen Whitaker from February 2011 to August 2012. He has been an avid gamer since childhood, so much so that in an interview he said he missed the phone call with which Zack Snyder told him he had it chosen to play the role of Superman because he was too busy playing a session of World of Warcraft.

He also stated that the strategic game series Total War is one of his favorites, especially for the chapters dedicated to the world of Warhammer, so much so that the production house has added a tribute to the actor in a DLC for Total War: Warhammer II by calling a Loremaster of Hoeth of the High Elves Cavill.

Glamor UK magazine named him the se*iest man of 2013. Henry is very involved in charity, and in fact supports small charities, such as the Durrell Wildlife Charity and the Royal Marines Charitable Trust Fund. Henry Cavill was protagonist of a video to Jay Leno to talk about Superman!
