“Avatar: The Way of Water,” the James Cameron’s highly anticipated sequel of “Avatar,” (2009) had topped a $850 million landmark in less than a week and a half after release, becoming the fifth-highest grossing film of 2022 with a whacking $855 million in revenues across the globe.

As of Friday Saturday morning, the grossing of “Avatar: The Way of Water” had totalled around a $253.7 million in domestic box office, while the film had notched an Apollonian $600 million across the globe. Despite an increase in pandemic cases in China, which was anticipated due to its zero-COVID policy for three years that eventually had prevented the country’s population to develop immunity against the pandemic pathogen, the movie has still generated a whacking $71.6 million or 500 million Chinese Yuan.

However, although, there had been a sharp increase in pandemic cases in China, no deaths were reported for four straight days in a row and most patients were presented with mild or no symptoms. Amid such landscape, the film is expected to hit a chartbuster $1 billion landmark by end-2022, a milestone that only two films had crossed this year such as “Top Gun: Maverick” alongside “Jurassic World: Dominion”.

Outside the North America, “Avatar: The Way of Water” had enjoyed a far smoother run contemplating the extent of inflation the US households have been grappling with, as China’s grossing of the film had already crossed a $100.5 million, while revenues in Korea totalled around a $53 million.

On top of that, “Avatar: The Way of Water” had grossed $52.3 million in France, $35.7 million in Germany alongside a $37 million in India.
