Don Cheadle, the 58-year-old American and a recipient of numerous accolades, said in a retrospective interview with GQ over the weekend that he had only two hours to decide whether he wanted to join the Marvel’s Cinematic Universe (MCU) adding “I was in my son’s birthday”. If truth is to be spoken, Don Cheadle might not be one of six avengers in the MCU, however he had had an enormous scale of popularity among the Afro-American demographics in the US, while MCU appears to be banking on the actor to further enhance their reach to a nearly one-fourth of US population, who had had an African origin. Nevertheless, no debates had emerged ever over Don Cheadle’s brilliance, as the 58-year-old Afro-American actor hailing from Kansas had bagged two Grammy Awards, a Tony Award alongside Two Golden Globes.
Don Cheadle had only two hours to decide whether he wants to join MCU Universe
Speaking in the interview with the GQ over his first contract with MCU, Cheadle said, “I was at my kid’s laser tag birthday party, they called me and said, ‘This is what’s happening and we’re giving you the offer.
If you don’t say yes then we’re going to the next person. This is going to happen very fast. Why don’t you take an hour and decide if you want to do it.’ It was a six-movie deal! In an hour I have to decide?” Besides, reflecting that he had been on his kid’s birthday party while receiving the offer, the actor said, “So we played laser tag for two hours and I was talking to my wife and we thought about it and talked to my agent and tried to get as much information as we could”.
Cheadle played a number of key supportive roles in Marvel’s Cinematic Universe over past 12 years.
