Reality TV star and businesswoman Kim Kardashian is set to star in a new Netflix comedy film called "The Fifth Wheel," TMZ reports. This exciting project marks a significant step forward in Kardashian's acting career, following her previous appearances in smaller roles.

It seems that the popular starlet has "proved" herself on stage and thus deserves to be in the lead role of a Netflix movie. Many critics claim that she got the role only because of her popularity and because the movie would be watched because of her name.

The Netflix studio doesn't think so. The concept and idea of the film were successfully sold by Kardashian and her two co-writers, Paula Pell and Giannine Brito, amid fierce competition from as many as five studios fighting for the rights.

Netflix emerged victorious, securing a deal for a comedy that has yet to be written or filmed.

Kim Kardashian as producer

Kardashian will not only grace the screen as the titular "fifth wheel," but will also take on the role of producer alongside Pell and potentially other producers.

This marks a departure from her usual reality TV persona, showcasing her versatility and expanding her involvement in the entertainment industry. Despite being relatively new to the acting scene, Kardashian has already shown her potential in previous roles, including an appearance on "American Horror Story: Delicate" earlier this year.

Her participation in "The Fifth Wheel" is expected to further elevate her acting career and introduce her to a wider audience.

A film with a medium budget

The popular influencer talked much earlier about her talent for acting and how it is her unfulfilled wish, after several years she is living her dream.

When you do what you dream of, it's the same as not working at all. US sources say Netflix has classified the film as a "medium-budget" project, with an estimated budget ranging from $30 million to $80 million. This significant investment reflects the platform's confidence in the project and its potential to attract a wide audience.

While the exact release date of "The Fifth Wheel" remains under wraps, anticipation for the film is already growing. Kardashian's star power, along with the involvement of seasoned writers and Netflix's backing, suggests the film has the potential to become a huge success on the streaming platform.
