Hollywood stars Christian Bale and Bradley Cooper will collaborate again in a new project, the film "Best of enemies". This news was released by Hollywood journalist Jeff Snyder, and according to it, the film will be inspired by the book "Best of Enemies: The Last Great Spy Story of the Cold War" by writers Gus Russo and Eric Dezenhall.
Cooper is set to play CIA agent Jack Platt, while Bale is slated to play his Russian counterpart, KGB agent Gennady Vasilenko. It is a true story, and the plot is set in 1978, during the Cold War, when the two arrive in Washington.
Their main task is to induce the rival to betray his country. However, what happened was not expected by anyone. The two became friends who did amazing things. According to Snyder, Cooper also intends to direct this film, and the fight for the rights is allegedly led by the biggest studios and streaming services, including Netflix and Apple.
The screenplay will be adapted by Eric Warren Singer, who is known as one of the screenwriters of the film "Top Gun: Maverick".
They have already acted together with much success
Bale and Cooper have previously collaborated in the 2013 black comedy drama American Hustle.
It was directed by David O. Russell and written by Eric Warren Singer and Russell, based in part on an FBI investigation called ABSCAM from the late 1970s and early 1980s. Christian Bale, along with Amy Adams, plays one of two crooks who are forced by an FBI agent played by Bradley Cooper to set a trap for corrupt politicians.
The film was well received by critics and was a success at the box office. It received ten Academy Award nominations, including Best Picture, Best Director and Best Original Screenplay, but did not win in any category. Won three Golden Globes, the Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Acting and many other awards. Therefore, this combination of top actors in "Best of enemies" seems like a masterpiece in the announcement.
