The famous American film director and screenwriter Martin Scorsese should receive the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award at the 74th Berlin Film Festival in February next year. Festival organizers made the announcement, expressing their admiration for Scorsese's profound influence on cinema.

"For anyone who believes that cinematography is the art of shaping a story in a way that is completely personal and universal, Martin Scorsese is an unparalleled role model," the organizers announced in a statement, according to Reuters.

The Berlinale audience had the opportunity to see more of Scorsese's works, so the festival opened in 2008 with his "spectacular concert film" about the Rolling Stones - "Shine a Light". Scorsese, known for his outstanding contribution to the film industry, will be honored with the "Golden Bear" award.

This award, given for an outstanding lifetime achievement, has previously been awarded to such esteemed figures as Steven Spielberg, Helen Mirren, Ian McKellen and Dustin Hoffman. The Golden Bear is one of the most important film awards in the world.

A long and fabulous career

The Italian-born director rose to prominence in the "new Hollywood era" with his cult film "Taxi Driver" in 1976. Despite being nominated seven times, he won his first Oscar in 2007 for "The Departed," cementing his status as one of the top filmmakers in the industry.

And behind him are many famous films, almost all of which were successful. Adding to his illustrious career, Scorsese's latest film, Killers of the Flower Moon, is generating considerable hype. The film, which deals with the murders of American Indians in Oklahoma during the 1920s, is not only a favorite for an Oscar nomination for best picture, but has also secured a Golden Globe nomination.

"Killers of the Flower Moon", which had its premiere in Cannes, was declared by many to be the best achievement of 2023. The moment is approaching when Martin Scorsese will take the stage and receive the well-deserved recognition for his outstanding contribution to world cinema.
