Joey Logano has failed to defend his last year title at the Food City Dirt Race. Although it was expected that he could be the main competitor in the first place, Logano ultimately did not have enough speed to achieve a new victory.

Kyle Busch still ended up as the winner after Tyler Reddick and Chase Briscoe spun each other out. Logano did not have enough pace to take advantage of some mistakes, and in the end he finished third. Still, he doesn’t seem so disappointed with the outcome.

“We’ll take that. We weren’t fast enough obviously to win. We had great execution on restarts and kept ourselves towards the front. Paul made a good call leaving us out. The tire was coming apart there at the end, but we did what we had to do to stay towards the front.

Joey Logano and Mustang

Logano and his Mustang are a big threat to most drivers this season. "The track position was so big. It’s so hard to pass and I felt like if I could just get towards the front, I could try to hold them all off and that’s what we did with our Mustang,” Joey Logano said.

This cannot be said to be a bad result, although Logano is only fighting for the biggest goals. The next races will be a good opportunity for him to try to triumph, but he is also aware of the competition and how good the teams at NASCAR are at the moment.

Of course, big changes have been brought about by Next Gen cars, so it will take time for many things. “We were able to get a top-three finish with our Shell/Pennzoil car. It’s OK. We’ll take it. It’s not a win, but we’ve been stringing together some good finishes the last couple of weeks,” Joey Logano added.
