Chase Briscoe on Busch absence: It definitely makes it a little bit better for us

The next race at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway will attract a lot of public attention. What many are disappointed about is the absence of Kurt Busch, who was replaced by Ty Gibbs. Busch also had to leave the previous race due to concussion symptoms after the crash.

Chase Briscoe revealed his impressions before the race and what impact Busch's absence will have. “Unfortunately, because of Kurt, it definitely makes it a little bit better for us. I don’t want to be in that situation, because Kurt has run better than us.

He deserves it if it comes down to it to be in, but I think, for us, it’s getting a little easier if we can get through these next couple of weeks… I just hope Kurt gets back to the race track Obviously, we miss him,” says Chase Briscoe.

Briscoe emphasized who is their biggest threat and who they would not like to see on the podium. “There’s just a lot of unknowns and there are really only four guys that winning would hurt us.

Everybody else is so far below us in points, that we’d probably be OK, but two of them are my teammates (Kevin Harvick and Aric Almirola) and then (Ryan) Blaney and (Martin) Truex (Jr.). If those four guys win, that’s where we get in trouble,” Chase Briscoe said.

Although there is stress, Briscoe is optimistic about the next challenges that await him. “I just need to get through the next three weeks without a new winner and then I’ll feel a lot better about it. The stress level is still there, for sure, but it’s not as bad now.

If one of those guys wins this weekend, it’ll be a lot worse, but so far, I feel good about it and, truthfully, if we win this weekend, it doesn’t matter so that’s what we’re gonna try to do,” Chase Briscoe added.
