Watkins Glen will be the next challenge for NASCAR drivers. Chase Elliott is ready for what comes next, considering that this is the track where he achieved his first victory. This time too, Elliott is optimistic and hopes that he can repeat a similar result as before.
The goal is to be in the playoffs. “Watkins Glen (International) was where I got my first win, so it’s, of course, a place that holds some great memories for me. We’ve had a good amount of success there as a team, and I feel like this year, we’ve come a long way in our road course program with the new car.
This is a track that I feel like we can go and have a good run and get some momentum back heading into the playoffs,” Chase Elliott said, as quoted by firstsportz.
Alan Gustafson: That will be the key
Chase Elliott's crew chief Alan Gustafson said the same thing as Elliott.
His team has already had good results on this track. Gustafson wants points and a race for the play off. “Certainly, the last three years have been good for our team at Watkins Glen (International). We’ve been really competitive there, and we feel like this is another opportunity for us to go out there and have a good race.
Our focus will be on winning and ultimately trying to get some more playoff points. That’s the key. This is a track we should be able to do that at. Hopefully, that will come to fruition and put us in a good position for the playoffs,” Alan Gustafson said.
No:9 The Hendrick Motorsport team has enormous quality. They are aware of their strengths and weaknesses, and this will be an ideal chance to be one step closer to their goal. Elliott is an important element in this.
