Hendrick Motorsports driver Chase Elliott is one of the biggest stars of the NASCAR scene. Top places are always expected from him, and before the start of the season, he was one of the favorites for the title. His previous experience with Martinsville was not so positive, but Elliott remains optimistic and probably expects to find himself at the top this time.
“The Martinsville (Speedway) race in the spring was different from any Martinsville race I’ve ever really been a part of in the past. It was the craziest thing. You couldn’t pass. It was wild to be going that slow and to have a track position race like that.
I’m sure it will be more of that (this weekend), and look, that’s fine,” Chase Elliott said. His goal is only victory and nothing else. Elliott is focused on being the winner, although he is aware that it will not be easy.
“It is what it is, right? As competitors, you have to figure out how to be successful in whatever environment is thrown at you, and I think that’s what we’re going to have there,”.
Qualifications will be crucial for his ambitions.
“I think a reasonable qualifying effort is going to be really important in how your day’s going to unfold and how many opportunities you’re going to have. Hopefully, we can just get it right all weekend because you’ll have to be on from the beginning.
There’s going to be no catching up,”. No:9 crew chief Alan Gustafson believes that Elliott will have to do his best this time. “You try to score as many points as possible, and you try to win the race, but obviously, the sense of urgency will be much higher because you need to advance through this race. That means it’s all or nothing,”.
