'Fake Klay Thompson' banned for life from attending Warriors' home games

YouTube prankster Dawson Gurley has been handed a lifetime ban from attending the Golden State Warriors' home games after making his way onto the court and pretending to be Klay Thompson. Gurley has been imitating Thompson since 2015 but in Game 5 of the NBA Finals he took it a step further.

Gurley made his way past the security guards, entered the floor and shot for 10 minutes before it was realized that he wasn't Thompson.

The day after Game 6, the Warriors handed Gurley a lifetime ban from their home games.

"Banned bc I walked past 5 layers of security guards (who willingly let me through security without asking for ID) & shot around on the court for 10 minutes," Gurley tweeted alongside a photograph of the letter he received from Golden State.

Thompson and company lead the Boston Celtics

The Warriors got the job done in Game 5 as they beat the Celtics 104-94 to take a 3-2 lead in the series.

Thompson had a good performance, scoring 21 points in the win. Warriors superstar Stephen Curry had an off night but the Warriors still managed to win. After Curry shot 0-of-9 from beyond the three-point line, Thompson wasn't concerned at all.

"We're never stressed or worried about No. 30," Thompson said. "He has done so much and elevated this franchise to a place where it was hard to even imagine that he has leeway, and he can have a bad night.

I just know he'll respond. He's one of the greatest competitors I've ever been around. And he's a perfectionist, like myself. I know he'll be thinking about the shots he missed. And that's a good thing, because Thursday, hopefully, most of the time, he regresses to the mean, and it's scary when he does." Thompson and company will now be looking to close out the series in Game 6 in Boston.
