The Mavericks basketball team secured a win against the New Orleans Pelicans at the American Airlines Center in Dallas, with a final score of 127-117. Luka Dončić, a Slovenian player, had an impressive game, achieving a triple-double with 34 points, 10 rebounds, and 10 assists.
This marks Dončić's ninth triple-double performance of the season. The Mavericks had a strong start, leading by 34-15 after the first quarter. Christian Wood helped set the tone early on by scoring nine of the team's first 13 points.
Although Dončić began the game somewhat slowly, he ended it by scoring the final 11 points for his team. In addition to Dončić's impressive performance, teammate Christian Wood contributed 28 points to the Mavericks' victory.
The Pelicans were without their top three scorers, Zion Williamson, Brandon Ingram, and CJ McCollum, but Jonas Valanciunas put up a strong fight with 25 points and 10 rebounds. Naji Marshal and Herbert Jones also scored 24 and 18 points, respectively.
Dončić credits his success to hard work
“He’s improved in every area," Mavericks coach Jason Kidd said. "He’s worked extremely hard. He’s learning what it means to be a pro. You can see the product on the floor in the sense that he’s not scared.
He’s a young man surrounded by a megastar, and he feels like he fits right in. That’s kind of cool”. Said Hardy: “That’s just me staying true to my work and hours I put in the gym, and sticking to it.
Doing the same thing I do in my workouts. Not being scared of anybody, just hoopin’. I’ve been doing this my whole life”. In other games played last night, the Boston Celtics won their sixth game in eight with a 121-116 victory over the San Antonio Spurs. Jayson Tatum led the way with 34 points, followed by Jaylen Brown with 29 and Malcolm Brogdon with 23.
