The Portland Trail Blazers suffered yet another defeat, as they lost to the Orlando Magic at home with a score of 109-106. This marks the team's fourth consecutive loss, leaving them with a record of 19-21 for the season. Despite a strong performance from Jusuf NurkiÄ, who contributed 22 points, 10 rebounds, and 1 assist, the Blazers were unable to secure a win.
Nurkic, who was second in scoring behind Damian Lillard's 30 points, was a force to be reckoned with in the first half, leading all scorers with 18 points and 8 rebounds. The Magic got off to a hot start in the first quarter, outscoring the Blazers 20-30.
However, the Blazers fought back in the second quarter, outscoring the Magic 30-17 to tie the game at 50 going into halftime. The Blazers' strong defensive efforts made it difficult for the Magic to score, as they made all of their shots challenging.
The Magic regained their lead in the third quarter, opening with a 15-0 run, but Lillard and the Blazers managed to pull within 9 points late in the quarter. Despite the Blazers' efforts, the Magic were able to hold on to their lead and secure the win, thanks in part to Franz Wagner's impressive performance, scoring 29 points.
"I think that’s why you play basketball, those important plays, those important moments,” Wagner said following the game. Blazers coach, Chauncey Billups, was left searching for answers after the defeat. "We’re just in a little funk, man.
I don’t know what it is. I can’t really pinpoint it,” he said. The Blazers will look to bounce back from this loss as they continue their season, with their next game against the Miami Heat.
