Peyton Manning explains how he has been helping Russell Wilson

Former Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning revealed he has reached out several times to Russell Wilson over the past month as he is trying to help the nine-time Pro Bowl quarterback adjust to his new situation. Manning played in Indianapolis for 14 years, before he signed with the Broncos after the 2011 season.

Manning enjoyed success in Denver, having led the team to two Super Bowl trips and a Super Bowl victory in 2015. After leading the Broncos to a Super Bowl victory, Manning called it a career. The Broncos' quarterback situation has been a disaster since Manning retired but now they are hoping Wilson will lead them to success.

Wilson spent 10 years with the Seattle Seahawks before he was traded to the Broncos. "I've talked to Russell a number of times and we've had conversations about some of the things that helped me in my transition to a different team that I think can apply to anybody making the jump, especially after being in a place for a long time," Manning told the Denver Post.

"[I've had] conversations Coach [Nathaniel] Hackett as well about some of those things, maybe some do's and don'ts that helped me and can certainly apply and Russell can hit the ground running here in his first year."

Manning on what he admires about Wilson

Manning had a chance to experience on his own skin how talented Wilson was.

In the 2013 Super Bowl, Wilson led the Seattle Seahawks to a dominant 43-8 over Manning's Broncos. Manning thinks Wilson is a special player and he is hoping the former Super Bowl winning quarterback can lead the Broncos to success.

"Just his leadership and his work ethic -- you start there and then you obviously get to the abilities and talents on the field," Manning said. "His ability to scramble out of the pocket and also make every throw from within the pocket — that's something that is unique. And then the fact he's going to work very hard to get his timing down with his receivers."
