John Elway opens on how he feels about Russell Wilson

Denver Broncls legend John Elway admits the Broncos are thrilled to have Russell Wilson as their quarterback as they believe he is the one that can lead them to a Super Bowl victory. The Broncos haven't had much success ever since the great Peyton Manning helped them win the 2015 Super Bowl.

After the 2015 season, Manning retired and since then the Broncos really haven't had a great quarterback. This offseason, the Broncos were determined to bring in Wilson and the Seattle Seahawks ultimately agreed to send the quarterback to Denver.

"We're excited that he's in town, there's no question. He's kind of the piece that we needed," Broncos legend John Elway said Wednesday, via the Associated Press.

Elway: Wilson has pieces around him

The Broncos traditionally have a good defense and Elway feels their offense is now great as well.

"Wilson a good football team around him. George (Paton) did a tremendous job of putting that deal together and getting him up here. So, it's great to see that fan base energized again, and we've got a chance to compete in that AFC West, which is obviously going to be tough." Last year, Wilson was hampered by some injury problems and he had to miss several games.

Elway knows staying healthy is the key for the Broncos. "Like any year, we've got to stay healthy, and we've had a tough time doing that the last several years," Elway said. "So, if we can stay healthy, Russell's been there, he's won Super Bowls.

He knows what it takes and the leadership that he's providing is tremendous." Wilson knows what it takes to win a Super Bowl. Wilson's lone Super Bowl victory came in 2013, when he led the Broncos to a 43-8 victory in the Super Bowl versus the Broncos. Wilson won his first Super Bowl by beating the Broncos and he is hoping to win a Super Bowl with the Broncos.
