49ers GM John Lynch keeps insisting Deebo Samuel isn't going anywhere

San Francisco 49ers general manager John Lynch has made it clear the 49ers absolutely do not plan on trading All-Pro wide receiver Deebo Samuel. Samuel enjoyed a career-best year last season but he requested a trade from the 49ers following this offseason.

The 49ers made the NFC Championship Game last season and Samuel was the big reason why the 49ers made a deep run. Samuel requested a trade two months ago but he still a member of thr 49ers. Lynch said he would be a "fool" if he decided to move on from Samuel.

“Well, we haven’t traded him. And I’ve used the word ‘fool’ — I’d be a fool to trade him — so no,” Lynch said, via NBC Sports Bay Area. “And so, yes — he’ll be a part of the 49ers this year”.

Lynch: The 49ers trying to fix the situation

This is not the first time Lynch has said the 49ers won't be moving on from Samuel. In early May, Lynch said the 49ers would give their best to resolve any potential issues with Samuel - but trading him was not an option.

"We're trying really hard with Deebo to work through whatever the issues might be," Lynch said. "I always have really believed that there is a sacredness to those conversations and that they remain private, especially with things like this.

I think it's in everyone's best interest we don't get into that. I don't think [the obstacles] are insurmountable. I think we can find a way to resolution, and we're hopeful for that because we know what he's been to this organization.

Thirty-sixth pick in 2019, and he's been so good on and off the field. Obviously, a tremendous player. He makes us better. I think we make him better. And we're hopeful that we get everything right and that we're rolling forward."
