Tua Tagovailoa's shock injury: stiff hands

Tua Tagovailoa of the Miami Dolphins protagonist of a sensational injury in the NFL. In the regular season match between his Miami Dolphins and Cincinnati Bengals, the quarterback suffered a hard tackle and a consequent head impact to the ground.

The injury forced the football player to leave the field in an ambulance, with his hands in an unnatural position and completely rigid. Tagovailoa in last Sunday's game against the Buffalo Bills had suffered a push from the opposing linebacker Matt Milano who had knocked him down on the ground.

The Dolphins player got up shaky, then two more steps and even fell to the ground by himself, with his legs not holding him. He was taken out of the field supported by his teammates, then during the interval there were the necessary medical checks and in the second half he regularly returned to the field, completing the match, then won 21-19 by Miami.

For a while Tagovailoa felt his spine aching, until he fell to the ground. A situation that led the NFLPA to open an investigation.

The career

On April 23, 2020 Tagovailoa was chosen by the Miami Dolphins as fifth overall in the 2020 NFL Draft.

The team chose to field veteran Ryan Fitzpatrick as the starter for the start of the regular season and Tagovailoa made his professional debut in the final of the week 6 match against the The New York Jets gained victory, completing two passes for 9 yards.

In the thirteenth round he was awarded as rookie of the week after passing 296 yards and a touchdown in the victory over the Cincinnati Bengals. In the last week the Dolphins needed a win against the Bills, one of the best teams in the league in 2020, to reach the playoffs but lost 56-26 and Tagovailoa suffered three interceptions.

In week 2 of the 2021 season Tagovailoa was forced out with a rib injury from the game against the Buffalo Bills from which Miami was defeated 35-0. He stayed off the pitch until the week 6 match against the Jacksonville Jaguars in London.

Later the Dolphins returned to playoff orbit thanks to a streak of 7 consecutive victories but a defeat against the Titans in the penultimate round condemned the team to remain out of the post-season. His season ended with 2,653 past yards, 16 touchdowns and 10 interceptions and a 7-5 record as a starter.

In the second round of the 2022 season, Tagovailoa played the best game of his early career when, after suffering two interceptions in the first half, he passed six touchdowns, leading the Dolphins to come back from a 21-point gap against the Baltimore Ravens, going on to win by 42- 38.

His performance ended with 469 past yards and a passer rating of 124.1. Those six touchdowns equalized Bob Griese and Dan Marino's franchise record and for this performance he was honored as AFC Offensive Player of the Week and Quarterback of the Week.
