New York Giants wide receiver Sterling Shepard reveals Odell Beckham Jr. told him that his meeting with the Giants went well. Beckham, who sustained a torn ACL injury in the Super Bowl, is healthy again and ready to play. This week, Beckham met with the Giants - the team that drafted him in 2014.
Beckham is the biggest free agent name available on the market and the Giants have expressed a major interest in signing Beckham. “He said the dinner went well and that was about the extent of that conversation. We were watching the [Bills-Patriots] game and one of the big things he was saying is he just wants to get back to balling," Shepard said, per The New York Post.
Shepard on if his friendship with Beckham will impact the decision
Beckham is close friends with Shepard and Giants star running back Saquon Barkley. The Dallas Cowboys have also expressed a big interest in signing Beckham and they seem like the better team than the Giants right now.
Shepard was asked whether Beckham's friendship with him and Barkley will impact his decision. “I think that has something to do with it, for sure. But he has to do what’s best for him and his family. We all understand that," Shepard said.
Beckham, who celebrated his 30th birthday on 5 November, invited Barkley to his birthday party. “I was able to go to Odell’s birthday and spend time with him and some other guys out there,” Barkley recently said.
Barkley, who played with Beckham for one season before the star wide receiver was traded, said it would be a great story if Beckham returned to New York and helped the team win a Super Bowl. “It would be a great story to come back to the place that he was before and continue to build success," Barkley said. It remains to be seen if Beckham will reunite with Shepard and Barkley in New York.
