Derek Carr acknowledged Baker Mayfield pulled off something astonishing on Thursday Night Football. Mayfield, who was waived by the Caroline Panthers on Monday and claimed by the Los Angeles Rams on Tuesday, led the Rams to a stunning 17-16 comeback win over the Las Vegas Raiders.
With just over three minutes left in the game, the Rams completed a 75-yard touchdown drive to cut the deficit to 16-10. Then with less than two minutes left in the game, the Rams got the ball on their own two-yard line. Mayfield then orchestrated a stunning 98-yard touchdown drive to give the Rams a stunning 17-16 comeback victory.
“It’s tough, but it’s the NFL. These are professionals. There’s really cool stories and cool moments for some guys, and I’m sure Baker will love that moment for the rest of his life,” Carr said, per Pro Football Talk.

Mayfield didn't even have two full days to learn the Rams' playbook, but still led them a big comeback win. “It’s professional football, you’re going to get everybody’s best no matter who’s playing,” Carr added.
Meanwhile, Mayfield said his main focus right now is getting his career back on the right track. “I’m just looking to be the best version of me possible. Learning and improving in the system, trying to take away from a great group of guys who’ve had a lot of success.
Obviously, the injuries — it’s tough. But just trying to learn from everybody here. Taking in as much as I can and let the pieces fall where they may. I can’t control the future. I know I have the next four games here.
Trying to build on that and be the best version of me and improve," Mayfield said. When it comes Carr, his Raiders had their three-game winning streak come to an end. Following the loss to the Rams, the Raiders fell to a 5-8 record and their playoff chances are again looking very slim.
