The NFL has reduced Randy Gregory and Oday Aboushi's punishment from suspension to fines. Following the Denver Broncos' 51-14 win over the Los Angeles Rams, Broncos' Gregory and Rams' Aboushi were caught on a video trading blows.
Earlier this week, the NFL suspended both Gregory and Aboushi for one game. After appealing the decision, the NFL reduced the punishment to a $50,000 fine to Gregory and a $12,000 fine to Aboushi, respectively. “Appeals officers Derrick Brooks and James Thrash, jointly appointed by the NFL and NFLPA, have reduced the discipline assessed to Randy Gregory and Oday Aboushi, respectively, from one-game suspensions to fines of $50,000 for Gregory and $12,000 for Aboushi,” NFL Senior Vice President of Football and International Communications Michael Signora announced on Twitter.
The Broncos will have Gregory this week but they gave bigger problems
On Sunday, the Broncos are playing the Kansas City Chiefs on the road. The Broncos, who entered this season with Super Bowl aspirations, own one of the worst records in the league with four wins and 11 losses.
Earlier this week, the Broncos announced they were dismissing head coach Nathaniel Hackett. But when it comes to struggling quarterback Russell Wilson, the team is not giving up on the former Super Bowl winning quarterback.
The Broncos gave a massive deal to Wilson in the offseason and Broncos owner Greg Penner said this week the team still has the belief in Wilson. "The decision to have Russell here is a long-term one. This season has not been up to his standards or expectations.
We saw some glimpses of it in the last few weeks. He knows he can play better; we know he can play better; and we know he'll do the right work in the offseason to be ready for next year," Penner said. The Broncos have no chance of making the playoffs and they could very easily suffer another blowout loss when they meet the Chiefs.
This season has been a catastrophe for the Broncos and they will have a lot of work to clean up in the offseason.
