Patrick Mahomes on ankle injury: I'll push it to see what I'll be able to do

Patrick Mahomes described his battle with a high ankle sprain as "a full-day thing" and revealed he plans to test his ankle throughout the week to determine what he will be able to do when the Kansas City Chiefs meet the Cincinnati Bengals in the AFC Championship Game.

In the divisional round, Mahomes sustained a high ankle sprain during the Chiefs' 27-20 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars. “I was able to do some extra testing, just to make sure everything was good the night after the game.

And then get a few things done to help the treatment kind of start off. And then the next few days has kind of been an all-day thing where you’re either doing treatment, or rehab, or watching film. But it’s a full-day thing where you’re trying to make sure you’re obviously prepared for the Bengals and the great football team — mentally and physically.

How much will Mahomes be able to do against the Bengals?

Throughout the week, Mahomes plans to test his ankle but noted he is aware he can't risk aggravating his injury.

“I’ll push a little bit today, and then the next day, and then the next day again and see what I can do to not re-aggravate the injury, obviously, but to push it to see what I’ll be able to do on Sunday,” Mahomes said.

The Bengals ousted the Buffalo Bills 27-10 on the road this past weekend. The Bengals have one of the most talented teams in the NFL and they have earned the respect from the entire NFL. A year ago, the Bengals upset the Chiefs in the AFC Championship Game in Kansas.

Now, the Chiefs are again hosting the Bengals. Mahomes was visibly frustrated after the Chiefs lost to the Bengals last year and he will certainly be determined to get a revenge this week.
