Damar Hamlin releases message, expresses gratitude for all love and support

Damar Hamlin has spoken publicly for the first time since nearly losing his life on the field as he took a moment to express his gratitude for all the support and love he received after suffering a cardiac arrest in early January.

After Hamlin suffered a cardiac arrest and collapsed on the field, the entire NFL community came together to pray for the Buffalo Bills safety. "What happened to me on Monday Night Football, I feel, is a direct example of God using me as a vessel to share my passion and my love directly from my heart with the entire world.

And now I'm able to give it back to kids and communities all across the world who need it the most. That's always been my dream, that's always been what I've stood for and what I will continue to stand for," Hamlin said in a video for the Bills, per CBS Sports.

Hamlin thanks the Bills, Bengals

Hamlin, 24, was selected by the Bills in the sixth round of the 2021 NFL draft. Even before suffering a cardiac arrest and all the support that followed, Hamlin knew that the Bills and their fans were special.

"Ever since I became a Buffalo Bill, it's been nothing but genuine love and support. Not even only for me, but everyone's situation. No matter what it was, Bills Mafia jumped behind it and gave 110% support, love, no matter the situation.

With this happening to me, I didn't feel anything short of the love. And it really helped me stay encouraged to get through the toughest moments and the toughest times. I really can't thank you enough," Hamlin said. After Hamlin collapsed on the field, the Bengals players gathered around and showed their solidarity with the Bills.

In that moment, all the players were one on the field and Hamlin admits he is extremely grateful to the entire Bengals organization. "You put humanity above team loyalty. You showed the world unity over division. I am not surprised by it, but I am deeply grateful and I will be forever thankful and indebted to that," Hamlin said of the Bengals.
