Patrick Mahomes names 'the most underrated quarterback' in NFL

Patrick Mahomes has declared Kirk Cousins "the most underrated quarterback" in the NFL. Cousins, a four-time Pro Bowl quarterback, has a history of producing good stats and he made back-to-back Pro Bowls in the last two seasons.

Last season, Cousins had 4,547 passing yards, 29 touchdowns and 14 interceptions. Also, the Vikings finished the regular season with a 13-4 record in 2022. But despite everything, there is still a feeling that Cousins isn't really viewed as a top quarterback or as someone who can lead an NFL team to a Super Bowl win.

In an interview conducted for Netflix's Quarterback series, Mahomes, Cousins and Marcus Mariota were asked to reveal the most underrated quarterback in the NFL.

Mahomes on Cousins: The most underrated quarterback

“I think this guy right here.

I mean, if you look at Kirk over here, man. Wins every year. Puts up great stats. Did it in Washington. Does it in Minnesota. Talk to any other quarterbacks in the league, and they’re gonna say the same thing," Mahomes said. Mariota agreed with Mahomes take: “I’d agree with that.

I’ve been in a few systems and [with] a few coaches. And a lot of the tape that we’d watch was of Kirk. A guy consistently, year in and year out, continues to prove why he is one of the top quarterbacks in the league”.

Recently, Vikings star wide receiver Justin Jefferson left Cousins out of his top-5 quarterbacks selection. When Cousins was asked about it, he insisted he had no problems with Jefferson's selection. “I didn’t even see it.

This is the first time hearing about it. As a competitor, yeah, you always want that. People have to be honest and share what they think and I’m not going to tell somebody what they need to think and hopefully in 2024 I’ll be on his list. We’ll see what we can do this year," Cousins said on KFAN a few days ago.
