Jerry Jones tells how he honestly fells about Cowboys' 2023 Super Bowl chances

Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has made a very optimistic remark ahead of the start of the 2023 NFL season, saying he believes his team can go all the way this coming season. In each of the last two seasons, the Cowboys finished the regular season with 12 wins.

But when the time came for the Cowboys to make a deep playoff run, they failed to do so. This offseason, the Cowboys decided to keep the core of the team - that includes mainly keeping Dak Prescott as their quarterback. Young stars CeeDee Lamb, Micah Parsons and Trevon Diggs are hoping to elevate their games to a new level, while the Cowboys also added veteran wideout Brandin Cooks and veteran cornerback Stephon Gilmore.

Jones: The Cowboys have got a chance to be a contender

"I certainly think -- and came to camp with the idea in mind -- that, if we can have the kind of camp we wanna have, that we've got a team that can compete for the top spot.

I don't want to understate that, for sure. There's a lot of work to be done because we're gonna play a lot of young players. But I think when you weigh it, you weigh where we've evolved over the last two or three years with our defense, you look at some of the talent we've got, you look at Dak (Prescott).

When I look at all those things, I think we've got a chance to be a contender," Jones said, via NFL Media. The Cowboys have hoisted the Lombardi Trophy five times but their last Super Bowl win came during the 1995 season. In recent years, the Cowboys have been regarded as one of the best NFC teams.

During the regular season, the Cowboys usually do well. In 2023, the goal for the Cowboys will be to again have a strong regular season but this time to also translate that form into the playoffs.
