Alex Ovechkin breaks a new record: I’m kind of pretty happy

Washington Capitals star Alex Ovechkin is a famous name in hockey and the biggest star of this game. He has now broken another record: for the most 50-goal seasons (9) in the NHL history. Of course, he was especially happy after breaking another record and shows what a class he is in his later years.

“It’s pretty good company. I’m kind of pretty happy,” Ovechkin said, as quoted by NHL.com. “When you score the first one, you just feel pretty good about the game. I think our line today feel good.

We have pretty good chances. It’s one of the nights you’re feeling it.“

Peter Laviolette on Ovechkin

Capitals coach Peter Laviolette is also delighted with Ovechkin breaking many records. Many had doubts about him, given that he is 36 years old but he silenced all critics.

“Alex, the way he’s contributing right now, I thought he played really hard out here tonight … really set the example for our team,” Capitals coach Peter Laviolette said. “Amazing accomplishment, 50 goals again.

I think as a more veteran player, being able to accomplish that where he is in his career right now as well, pretty special”. Mike Bossy is a man who broke the same record, but sadly passed away last year on a serious illness.

Ovechkin had something to say about Bossy, who is a legend of the sport and who marked an era of hockey. “I met him a couple times,” Ovechkin told the Capitals website Friday. “He was always smiling. He would always have a good mood and it’s a sad day for the whole [hockey] world.

He was a legend and, obviously, he was a great person, and he was the greatest, a very good goal-scorer, and it’s sad, sad news”. Ovechkin has shown his class many times. Truly an impressive player.
