The Vegas Golden Knights defeated the New Jersey Devils 4-3 in a shootout. Adin Hill had 47 saves and broke his previous record. "I felt like I had a good game," Hill said, as quoted by nhl.com "I felt good out there. I felt I was making good reads and seeing the puck well.
Adrenaline's going, you're just in the moment trying to do everything you can to keep the puck out of the net."
Vegas coach Bruce Cassidy was happy with the performance of most of the players, but singled out a few of them."'Marchy' finished well, Jack's had a lot of juice lately, Barbashev makes a lot of small-area plays," - Bruce Cassidy said. "The games are tighter. … Points are just valuable, and players recognize that this time of the year."
Lindy Ruff on his team
New Jersey coach Lindy Ruff is happy with his team's performance, but the opponent's goaltender was great.
"Their goaltender had a tremendous game."-Lindy Ruff said. "We four or five really good chances off the bat. Our energy was good, and I thought we skated well. Their goalie made a couple of big saves." Marchessault talked about his first goal.
"I just saw the puck was at a good angle and I tried to get out there as quick I could," Marchessault said. "I know the goalie goes normally where the puck went from. The short side would be open. I just got lucky, I guess." Mercer gave his team a 2-1 lead.
He reacted brilliantly and showed that the team can count on him in the next matches. "The [defenseman] fumbled it there, and (McNabb) kind of stepped back and tried to get it. I just saw an opportunity," Mercer said. "There was a thought to try and take it to the net, but it's never a bad idea to shoot the puck. I was happy to see it go in."
