We have now reached the round of 16 of the FIFA World Cup in Qatar, one of the most awaited events of the year. The last two matches of the group stage were played, on the one hand Brazil-Cameroon, a not very important match from the point of view of the group stage and on the other a decisive match, the match between Serbia and Switzerland.
A challenge that also affects tennis a lot and which involves some of the greatest world tennis champions of recent years. A few minutes before the match, the Serbian champion Novak Djokovic, winner of 21 Grand Slam titles, challenged with an Instagram Stories two of his greatest rivals in his extraordinary career, the Swiss tennis couple Roger Federer and Stan Wawrinka.
Djokovic and Federer have held large numbers together and have won 41 Grand Slam titles, Wawrinka has only won 3 but has taken away several satisfactions during his career, especially against Novak Djokovic. Wawrinka reposted Nole's story by replying that he was ready for the challenge, a small question and answer that teased social media and recalled some of their past challenges.
Serbia-Switzerland, how it went at the World Cup in Qatar
Serbia-Switzerland lived up to expectations and was one of the best matches of the World Cup. A lot of competitive spirit, struggle and a challenge that has given many twists and turns.
The Serbian national team initially took the lead and seemed favorites for the final victory but in the end things took a different turn. After the initial lead with controversy from Shaqiri, Serbia turned the game around with goals from Mitrovic and Juventus striker Dusan Vlahovic, his first goal in the competition.
The first half ended on 2 to 2 with the goal in the final of the Swiss striker, of Cameroonian origins, Embolo who equalized things. Switzerland technically had a chance of qualifying even with a draw, but Atalantino Freuler's goal at the start of the second half ended the game definitively.
Switzerland will face Cristiano Ronaldo's Portugal in the round of 16, Serbia returns home, even too early compared to the initial forecasts. We recall the firsts team to get the Quarterfinals of Qatar 2022 were Holland, Argentina and France.
