Graham Potter on the decision to have Joao Felix play from the start

Joao Felix arrived a few days ago as a big reinforcement for Chelsea. Graham Potter surprised everyone when he decided to put Felix in the first 11 against Fulham. Potter believes that it is a good decision and that the Portuguese is ready for his first match in the Premier League.

"I think (him starting) is a combination of a lot of things. His training, the quality he has, and the team needs a little bit of a lift in terms of the attributes that he has. Obviously, it's a tough one to come into but he's a confident boy, he just wants to play football and I'm looking forward to seeing him play."- he said, as quoted

Chelsea's coach revealed what Felix wants and what he expects from him at the same time.

He hopes that the Portuguese can be of great help to his team, which is in a major crisis. "Goal and assists - keep it simple for him," Potter said. "I think he's just got to be himself, he hasn't had that much time in terms of working with the players, being himself, expressing himself and enjoying the game." It will take some time for Felix to get used to the Premier League.

"He is in a good place and has had some football as well. Physically he is ok, obviously he is in an adaptation time which is not optimal. With the quality he has, we thought it was the right decision to put him in. He can receive the ball, he can find space and a final pass, and he can score.

In the final third he is a top player. It is a boost to see a player of that quality come in. I saw it in training yesterday, it gives everybody a lift." Many have high expectations from Joao Felix and believe that he will be a great reinforcement for the London team. We will see how Felix will manage, but we don't need to talk much about his qualities.
