Manchester City have been referred to an independent Commission by the Premier League for alleged breaches of financial fair play rules, as announced by the FA itself. The team risks expulsion from the Premier League, among various possible sanctions.

Manchester City allegedly violated league rules which require accurate financial information to be provided in good faith, giving a true and fair view of the club's financial position. There are over 100 charges for financial crimes against Manchester City and could lead, if convicted, to the exclusion of the reigning champions from the Premier League.

City are accused of multiple infractions, from the failure to transparently disclose salary costs to non-compliance with UEFA fair play and the violation of profit and sustainability rules. According to the BBC, and the independent commission called to judge him will find him guilty, the club risks from a heavy fine to a penalty up to exclusion from the Premier League.

The fourth set of alleged breaches concerns the Premier League's profitability and sustainability rules in the 2015-16 to 2017-18 seasons inclusive. Finally, the club is alleged to have breached league rules requiring member clubs to cooperate and assist the Premier League in its investigations, from December 2018 to the present.
