Cristiano Ronaldo, the Portuguese football star, has recently moved to Al Nassr in Saudi Arabia, where he believes in the rapid progress of football. The sensational transfer has made him the highest-paid athlete of all time.

In this article, we will take a closer look at Ronaldo's thoughts on the development of football in Saudi Arabia and his future record-breaking aspirations.

Competitive League with Good Teams

At a press conference before Portugal's game against Liechtenstein, Ronaldo spoke about the Saudi league and how it is currently not as strong as the Premier League but has the potential to become one of the strongest leagues in the world.

"I think you should look at the (SPL) in a different way," said Ronaldo. "I’m not going to say that the league is a Premier League, that would be a lie. But it’s a very competitive league that I’m positively surprised by, a very balanced league and good teams.

I am sure that in the coming years the league will be the fourth, fifth or sixth most competitive league in the world”.

Breaking Records with Portugal

Ronaldo is set to break the record for the most capped international player of all time, with an appearance against Liechtenstein tonight.

He will surpass Kuwait's Bader Al-Mutawa with his 197th cap for Portugal. Ronaldo is already the top international goalscorer with 118 strikes, and he admits that he always dreamed of breaking the appearance record too. "I like to break records.

I have broken lots of records," said Ronaldo. "In addition to being the best scorer ever for national teams, I was also looking to be the international player with the most caps." Since his arrival in Al Nassr, Ronaldo has scored 11 goals in 10 games, proving once again why he is one of the best footballers of all time.

With his belief in the rapid progress of football in Saudi Arabia and his ongoing success with Portugal, there is no doubt that Ronaldo will continue to make history in the years to come.
