Lisandro Martinez could be out of football fields in the next three months. Namely, the biggest problem arose due to the fact that Lisandro Martinez performed despite the fact that he had an injury and was not 100% ready. At the press conference before the match with Crystal Palace, Erik ten Hag revealed the consequences and confirmed that the diagnosis was made.

‘So we did a proper diagnostic, but [they also did] in Argentina as well. Now it [has] came out that there was a problem, that’s very sad, first place of course for Licha, but also for the team because he wasn’t 100 per cent fit.

Lisandro Martinez played with an injury

Lisandro Martinez was not at his level in the last few games. Erik ten Hag believes that the reason for this is the fact that the Argentine was not fully ready.

The only thing that remains now is the hope for United fans that Martinez will return as soon as possible and show his quality. ‘I think it was a big difference that Licha Martinez played in those [last two] games [against Brighton and Bayern] as it wasn’t [the] Licha Martinez we have seen in the first season here at Manchester United,’ ten Hag said.

When one player does not play at a satisfactory level, then the whole team feels the consequences. The most important thing is to give a chance to players who are fully prepared and who can give their true selves. We'll see who will lead the United's defense in the next few weeks, given that they have a lot of injury problems.

‘He will add to the team but not only that, he is a strong contributor to our levels. If already one player drops a level, then also the team performance levels will be lower.’ Manchester United will play against Crystal Palace today and try to win without Martinez. An interesting challenge awaits them.
