Lia Thomas, a transgender swimmer and her participation in the women's category, has been a major topic in recent months. Some believe that Lia has an advantage regardless of hormone therapy, while some support her. Joe Rogan has publicly condemned Lia Thomas in his podcast and believes things like this are not fair to the sport “What it is now is an assault on women’s sports,” Rogan said during his recent episode of The Joe Rogan Experience, as quoted by edmontonsun “And the idea that anyone would think it’s fair that someone who was number 4-6-2 as a man, 462 in the nation, is number 1 as a women a year later.
And that’s fair?” Rogan, just like many, believes that Lia has genetic advantages, which is why she is so dominant within the female category. She did not have such good results in the men's category, and that is what many resent about her.
“That might be the woke straw that breaks society’s camel’s back,” Rogan was honest. “It’s not fair, no matter what anybody says,” he continued. “There’s this nonsense idea of, like ‘Well, there’s outliers.’ There are outliers and then there are biological males”.
He added: “There’s a reason why we have a distinction between men’s and women’s sports”.
Martina Navratilova on Lia Thomas and her genetics
Martina Navratilova recently said almost the same thing as Joe Rogan.
She believes that Lia Thomas should compete in the men's category, but such criticism will not change anything, since Lia has met all the conditions for competition in the women's category. “Imagine being a biological female going up against Lia,” Martina Navratilova told The Post.
“A top woman swimmer has to literally be unbelievable to beat an average male swimmer who identifies as female. The hormone suppression therapy doesn’t mitigate the advantage they have over biological women”.
