John McEnroe: "Rafael Nadal has never broken a racket, that's crazy!"

John McEnroe analyzed Rafael Nadal's attitude on the court, assuming that the Spanish champion has never smashed a racket on the court. McEnroe explained: "Today's players all seem incredibly nice. Rafael Nadal confided that he has never broken a racket in his life, it's crazy.

In general, I think tennis players are more like me and Connors than Borg and Nadal. Tennis is a very stressful sport, it is very difficult not to express your emotions. In some ways I would have liked to be like Borg, but it was not in my DNA.

" John revealed Rafa's greatest talent: "I've never seen anyone fight on every ball like he does. I thought Jimmy Connors was the best ever in this respect, but Nadal surpassed him. That's his greatest talent.

, there are no doubts. In addition to being an incredible player who has improved over the years, he has the ability to make any effort to win. Everyone aspires to be like him, but it is very difficult to do so."

Rafael Nadal ready for US hard-courts season

After playing just seven official tournaments in 2021, many thought Rafael Nadal was close to retiring.

The Spanish champion admitted that he did not know if he would return to high levels, but the first part of 2022 dispelled any doubts about the competitiveness of the Majorcan. The former world number 1 won the Australian Open against all odds, completing a sensational comeback against Daniil Medvedev in the final.

The 36-year-old from Manacor then lifted the 14th Roland Garros, despite the pain in his foot forced him to undergo a series of infiltrations. Rafa also attempted the feat at Wimbledon, but had to forgo the semi-final against Nick Kyrgios due to an abdominal tear.

The 22-time Grand Slam champion is training on hard courts and will be back in action in Montreal next week. The Iberian's goal is to make it 100% to the US Open, a tournament he hasn't played since 2019.
