Naomi Osaka as Serena Williams: she becomes a children's writer

Naomi Osaka has announced the release of her first children's book, How Champions Play, published by HarperCollins and featuring illustrations by Kamala Nair. The book is aimed at children and is based on the player's Play Academy organization, which provides grants and training for community sports organizations.

Noami explained: "The leadership, trust, teamwork and resilience I learned on the pitch were so precious to me!" The Japanese star followed in the footsteps of Serena Williams, who published a children's book entitled: The Adventures of Qai Qai.

And speaking of Osaka and Serena, the Japanese expressed herself on the former US tennis star: "I passed that phase in which I was trying to fill the void left by someone else. You cannot be the 'successor of' because in our own way we are all unique.

We simply can not help but admit the greatness of Serena and thank her for everything she has done for our sport." It has not been an easy year for the former world number one, who has struggled with both physical and mental problems this season.

The Grand Slam champion talked about confusion in the head and back pain that accompanied her in this 2022, after the elimination at the US Open: "Right now I need to relax a bit, take a few days off, because there is a lot of chaos in my head, I think too much.

Injuries affected my whole season, just a few days ago I couldn't even serve well. Today I competed again and on the field I felt something similar to fun. The problem remains not being able to play as I would like and this leads to defeat, which is always difficult.

My biggest wish is to be able to play continuously without back problems. I have the feeling that I gave my best today, I did what I could. The truth is, I have no firm plans for what will happen."
