Casper Ruud: I haven't really experienced a very, very big down period

The season and the form in which Casper Ruud is in can hardly be considered satisfactory as of right now. There is a growing concern about this player as a result of his defeat to Jan-Lennard Struff in Monte Carlo. Currently, Ruud is one of the most promising players on the tennis scene and he has a lot to look forward to in the future.

It was his ambition this year to even try and grab the number one spot, but he will have to wait a little bit longer to reach that. As a result of his defeat against Struff, Ruud commented on his performance as a tennis player and said that such situations are quite common in the game.

"It's frustrating, but at the same time, I sort of, not going to say that I predicted that it was going to happen, but I think I've been pretty honest with myself and realizing that your whole career is not going to be joyful ride."- he said, as quoted by Tennis-Infinity.

Casper Ruud on ups and downs

Ruud is aware that ups and downs are an integral part of an athlete's career. However, he hopes that there will be more of those positive moments. "There will be some downs and hopefully more ups than downs, but for sure the downs will come.

And I haven't really experienced a very, very big down period in my career or in my tennis life ever. And not going to say that the last months have been that, but it has not been what I wanted to try to achieve, but hopefully, I can sort of try to shake that off." Ruud still hopes for a new beginning.

Considering his qualities, we can expect better performances in the future. "We are on a new surface and it's sort of like a new beginning in a way you can think that way," Ruud concluded.
