Legendary fighter Demian Maia has received well-intentioned financial advice from Islam Makhachev about a potential fight for him and Charles Oliveira for the lightweight title. As a reminder, Demian Maia stated that it was Charles Oliveira who could have a recipe for victory against Islam, but also Khabib.
“If there’s a man to beat that type of fighter, it’s Charles, because Charles has [a good] guard [game],” stated Maia. “You have to have [a good] guard to beat someone like that, enough guard to at least survive but also be offensive, to be dangerous there.
Charles has that. Charles is a dangerous fight for that type of fighter. Not to mention he’s dangerous as hell on the feet”. Maia said. “I would put [my money]” on Oliveira to win if he gets paired up against Makhachev next.
“I’m not a betting guy, but I would,” Maia said. Makhachev defeated Bobby Green in the last fight at the moment and was supposed to fight Beneil Dariush in the second month, but the fight was canceled. Islam then rejected a ‘short notice’ fight against Rafael dos Anjos, and Dana White said she would try to reconnect the fight between Islam and Dariusha before anyone gets a chance to attack the title.
Oliveira recently challenged Islam’s wrestling abilities, though he is certainly one of the best in the category, and training with Khabib has certainly contributed to Islam Makhachev’s wrestling pedigree.
Of course, the words of the legendary Demian Maia reached Islam, but Islam accepted it well and offered him friendly advice on money on Twitter: ''I remember the guy who bet his house and lost in my fight vs Hooker.
Don’t do the same mistake @demianmaia save your money [😁] "
The UFC hinted the other day at a potential match between Islam and Oliveira, and fans don’t stop talking about who’s better at what and who might win. We know only one thing: if there is a fight, it will be a treat for everyone.
