If it is not the most anticipated, it is certainly one of the most anticipated matches of the year. It is, of course, a fight for the lightweight belt between Charles Oliveira and Islam Makhachev, and they fight at the end of next month in Abu Dhabi.
The lightweight belt currently has no owner. Charles Oliveira fell on the scales when he was supposed to defend his belt against Justin Gaethje, and he won the match so the throne of one of the best UFC divisions is currently empty.
Oliveira and Makhachev will headline the UFC 280 event, and the impression is that the fans are getting more and more impatient as the event approaches. Although Makhachev is the favorite according to bookmakers, Oliveira should not be written off and underestimated because history shows us that this is when he is at his best.
‘Do Bronx’ may not make it to fight night
However, former UFC lightweight champion and now retired Khabib believes that Oliveira will not appear in Abu Dhabi at all, and he also said who they intend to replace him with: "I just think Charles Oliveira will not show up in Abu Dhabi and the UFC will replace Charles with Beneil Dariush.
Regardless of who the opponent will be, @MAKHACHEVMMA is on his way to becoming the best in the world #ufc280'' Khabib wrote on his Twitter profile.
Islam Makhachev revealed on his Twitter profile a more detailed plan on how he intends to bring the belt into his possession that evening.
I just think Charles Oliveira will not show up in Abu Dhabi and the UFC will replace Charles with Beneil Dariush.

"First round warm up, second round drag him to deep water, third round get business done Inshallah Can’t wait for Oct 22'' wrote Makhachev. By the way, Makhachev and Dariush were supposed to fight earlier this year, but Dariush had to withdraw from the fight due to an injury.
He was without an opponent for a long time, but he returns at UFC 280 against former two-time KSW champion Mateusz Gamrot. It’s also been heavily reported that Dariush is being lined up to become the backup fighter for the main event, too, adding an extra layer of intrigue to the idea that he could step in on short notice.
